The five mile race starts on the Commonweal School field. From the back of the school the race passes through Roman Crescent and Field Rise to join the Old Town Railway Path and then heads across the canal bridge near Rushy Platt before looping back along the link road past the Waitrose supermarket towards East Wichelstowe.
The course weaves its way around the lakes and alongside a short stretch of canal in Wichelstowe before a short, but steepish climb up to the railway path and returning back to the finish line in the school’s playing field via footpaths between Field Rise and Roman Crescent.
The course is run on a mixture of surfaces, predominantly tarmac and gravel paths. The sting is in the tail of this 5 mile route. The first mile or so is mostly downhill, followed by a fairly flat middle section and the last mile contains climbs back up to the school on top of the hill in Old Town, with several tight turns and some steps at two points along the course.
The Race HQ is at the Commonweal School in the Mall where there is limited car parking, so please walk, cycle or car share wherever possible.
